The latest authoritative industry data shows that in May 2017, the sales volume of excavators in China reached 11283 units, an increase of 105.65% compared to 5487 units last year. Since 2017, the sales of excavators have doubled in February and April. In May, excavator sales continued to be booming, breaking through the doubling growth again. This is also the ninth consecutive month of year-on-year growth of excavators exceeding 40%.

Sany Heavy Machinery takes the lead

In terms of enterprises, Sany Heavy Machinery ranked first in sales in May, followed by Caterpillar and XCMG in second and third place, followed by Doosan and LiuGong. According to statistics, 21 out of the 26 brands included in this month’s statistics achieved year-on-year positive growth, with 10 brands doubling their growth (7 of which are the top ten brands in terms of sales). The total sales of the top ten brands were about 9200 units, a year-on-year increase of 124.54%.

The hottest market in Shandong

In terms of regions, Shandong performed outstandingly in May, with sales of 700 units leading the way, followed by Anhui Province, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Henan, and Yunnan, with sales exceeding 600 units in the top five provinces.

Small digging is the most popular

In terms of tonnage, Xiaodao has the highest proportion among all tonnages, with a sales volume of 5597 units in May, accounting for 49.61%; The sales volume of Zhongdao reached 4228 units, accounting for 37.47%; Da Dao performed poorly, with sales of 1458 units, accounting for only 12.92%. However, compared to last month, Da Dao’s sales have still increased.

In terms of exports, a total of 780 excavators were exported in May, accounting for 6.91% of the total sales volume.

Since August last year, the mining machinery market has continued to maintain explosive growth, attracting attention from the industry. Industry insiders predict that excavator sales will reach 110000-120000 units in 2017. According to the data caliber of the Construction Machinery Industry Association, the number of excavators in China in 2015 was about 1.31 million units, an increase of 20000 units compared to 2014. The increase in the number of excavators has gradually collapsed to the lowest level in 10 years (the peak period in 2011 could reach 200000 units). This means that excavators have entered a cycle of renewal and replacement, which will provide a medium – to long-term support for future demand. Coupled with the investment in infrastructure construction, the subsequent market performance of excavators is still very promising.
