2018 is the mid-term year of the national 12th Five Year Plan and a crucial year for achieving comprehensive prosperity by 2020. For the implementation of the 12th Five Year Plan for railways, it is even more important. To achieve the dream of building a strong country, it is necessary to organize transportation construction in a practical way. These are the construction or start-up projects arranged by the China Railway Administration this year:

1. The Changsha Ganzhou Railway, also known as the planned Changsha Ganzhou section of the Chongqing Changsha Xiamen Railway, has undergone pre feasibility study review and will complete the review task by the end of the year. It is planned to start construction in 2019.

2. The Huanggang to Huangmei Railway, also known as the Huanggang to Huangmei South Station section of the Wuhan Hangzhou High speed Railway and the Huanggang to Huangmei section of the western line of the Beijing Kowloon High speed Railway, is currently awaiting the environmental impact assessment report from the Hubei Provincial Environmental Protection Department. The plan is to be approved within the year and it is expected to start construction in 2018.

3. The Jingmen Jingzhou Railway has a long-term plan for the Jingyue High speed Railway, and the environmental impact assessment report has been approved by the Hubei Provincial Environmental Protection Department. It is planned to start construction in 2018.

4. The Changde Yiyang Changsha Railway (planned for the Chongqing Changsha Xiamen Railway, currently held a preliminary design review meeting by the China Railway Administration, and approved the preliminary design report in the second half of the year) will start construction on the entire line in 2018,

5. The Nanchang Jingdezhen Mount Huangshan Railway is an important part of the Nanchang Nanjing high-speed railway, and can also be used as the second line from Shanghai to Kunming and Hangzhou to Nanchang. The feasibility study report was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission at the end of 2017. At present, the China Railway Administration has held a preliminary design review meeting, and the early stage of construction will begin at the end of 2018.

6. The feasibility study report for the Yinchuan Huinong section of the Baotou Yinchuan Railway has been approved, and the initial construction of the section will begin in August 2018.

7. The Xi’an Shiyan Railway and the Xiwu High speed Railway are currently waiting for the feasibility study industry review meeting held by the National Railway Administration and the preliminary design review meeting held by the China Railway Administration. The feasibility study report will be approved before the end of the year, and efforts will be made to start the early stage of construction by the end of 2018.

8. The Zhengzhou Wanzhou High speed Railway Yichang Xingshan Connection Line, a high-speed railway along the Yangtze River, has held a feasibility study review meeting. The feasibility study report will be approved by the China Railway Administration before the end of the year, and the construction of the first phase section will begin at the end of 2018.

9、The Nanchang Jiujiang Railway and the Beijing Kowloon High speed Railway have completed the survey and design bidding tasks. The China Railway Administration will hold a feasibility study review meeting before the end of the year, and construction will begin in 2019.

10、The Xiangyang Changde Railway and the Hunan South Railway have held pre feasibility study review meetings and are waiting for the feasibility study review meeting to be held by the China Railway Administration. Construction will begin in 2019.

11. The Chongqing Xiangzhou high-speed railway from Chongqing main city to Qianjiang section (planned for the Chongqing Changsha Xiamen railway) has held feasibility study and preliminary design review meetings, waiting for the National Development and Reform Commission’s approval of the feasibility study report. The early section will start construction by the end of 2018.

12. The Shantou Shanwei Railway is a coastal high-speed railway. Currently, the China Railway Administration has held feasibility study and preliminary design review meetings, waiting for the approval of the feasibility study report by the China Railway Administration.
